Mobile Programming

Mobile applications became the social platforms that they are getting more popular day by day. At first times, we started to hear about them especially on social platforms and games. By the improvement of technology, mobile applications are spreading to other sectors and areas.

Because of that situation, the value of mobile programming is increasing as well and in this article, we will talk about the platforms that will allow you to create mobile applications by mobile programming.

Catrobat (Pocket Code)

Inspired by the cat mascot and android operating system of Scratch, one of the most favorite applications in block-based programming, Catrobat entered the software industry in 2010 under the name of Catroid. The first version of the application was published in the Google Play Store in 2014. Catrobat is a block programming tool that can be easily used by people who do not know anything about coding beforehand, with its simple graphical block usage and easy-to-understand interface. Catrobat offers opportunities such as game development, animation creation. Catrobat is divided into 5 mobile applications. These; consists of Pocket Code (Pocket Code), Luna & Cat (Luna & Cat), Create @ School (Create@School), Phiro Code (Phiro Code). The application we will talk about here is Pocket Code. Pocket Code provides access to many sensors on the smartphone, such as tilt, GPS or compass direction, which can be used directly on the mobile phone, and features image, voice, and facial recognition. It is a mobile application that we can easily access from Google Play Store and App Store, which are Android and IOS versions.

Thunkable

This application offers people who do not have design and coding experience to develop mobile applications without any age limit. It has basically has two parts.

The first of these is the “Designer” section developed for designers. This model has been developed by targeting designers and allows designers who do not want to use Thunkable’s ready-made design elements to progress with their own designs.

The second part is the programming part called “Block”. In this section, codes are written by determining the functions of the blocks that work with drag-and-drop logic with the help of blocks without the need to know the language. Thunkable Blocks are building blocks for application users. Each component has its own set of blocks to fire or trigger an event, set, and change properties. It can be linked to a set of commonly used blocks, from opening screens, building logic, reformatting data, or simplifying code. It consists of 10 different categories. These; UI, layout, audio, visual, data, location, sensors, social, login, and payments categories. To find a component, you can navigate to the desired category, and these categories can be expanded or collapsed. It is an application that works on both IOS and Android devices and has a free trial version.

Alice

Alice is a 3D block programming tool. It is an innovative 3D programming environment used to create animation for a video, tell a story, make an interactive game. Students can create their dream world in a virtual world with the Alice program. Alice is a freely available educational tool designed in such a way that a student can acquire their initial knowledge of object-oriented programming. Programs prepared with Alice can be run quickly and the behavior of the objects in the prepared animations can be examined. The interactive interface of the Alice program allows students to easily create a program with drag and drop logic. The Alice application, which offers a free download, works on Windows, IOS, Linux operating systems. With this application, many games based on algorithmic thinking logic can be built.

ShoutEm

ShoutEm is perhaps the most preferred platform among the platforms that appeal to the general user. It stands out with its many advanced features such as powerful connection tools, comprehensive content management and helping the user to earn financial gain from the applications you produce.

In addition, it helps to get data from known big platforms such as WordPress, Facebook, Foursquare, Twitter. Furthermore, ShoutEm provides some automatic updates to the applications produced within its own structure.
In the user interface, ShoutEm, which makes it possible to access all control and management features from the panel on the left, asks to choose one of the preview devices it offers in the middle and offers a preview according to the selected theme and device on the right side of the page.
ShoutEm operates a monthly tariff system for pricing. Fees range from $49 to $149.
